Veterans Day  and the meaning of FOLDING OUR COUNTY'S FLAG

For celebration of Veterans Day, we had a special veteran visitor speak to us on the flag, and the symbols. Afterwards a cute 9 year old stood up who said he was moved, and suggested that we should sing the Star Spangle Banner as a school. He had everyone place their hand over their heart, and look at the flag.

Thank you to all those who served this country and continue to preserve our freedom!

Symbols for the Folds of the Flag

*The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life.

*The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life.

*The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks, and who gave a portion of his or her life for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world.

*The fourth fold represents our weaker nature; as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace, as well as in times of war, for His divine guidance.

*The fifth fold is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right, but it is still our country, right or wrong.”

*The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

*The seventh fold is a tribute to our armed forces, for it is through the armed forces that we protect our country and our flag against all enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic.

*The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor our mother, for whom it flies on Mother’s Day.

*The ninth fold is a tribute to womanhood, for it has been through their faith, love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great have been molded.

*The 10th fold is a tribute to father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since he or she was first born.

*The 11th fold, in the eyes of Hebrew citizens, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

*The 12th fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost.

When the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, “In God We Trust.”

After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it has the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under Gen. George Washington.

IN WHOSE HANDS DOES THE POWER OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT LAY?
"Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. THE PEOPLE themselves, therefore, are its only safe depositories. And to render them safe, their minds must be improved to a certain degree." "I consider THE PEOPLE who constitute a society or nation as the source of ALL AUTHORITY in that nation." Thomas A. Jefferson

How did the Founding Fathers put the government in the hands of the people so the people could govern themselves?
Here are twelve things the Founding Fathers did to put the government into the hands of the people:
1. Drew up a written Constitution, telling government officials what they could and could not do.
2. Required the elected officials to take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution
3. Divided the main power into three heads, so all the authority would not be in one person or one committee.
4. They made Congress the law making body because it consist of several members elected by the people.
5. Required a journal to be kept of all proceedings and made it open to public view.
6. Established two governments, The Federal Government to govern the nation as a whole and the State Government to govern the States and be closer to the people’s watchful eye.
7. Gave the people the right to vote
8. Gave the people the right to peacefully assemble.
9. Gave the people the right to voice their grievances.
10. Set up a court system consisting of the Supreme Court, the Federal Courts and the State Courts to protect the people’s rights.
11. Provided an impeachment process.
12. Considered all laws passed fraudulently to be null and void......Julie Smith 10/31/2014
The power and rule of the United States at this time is in the hands of international bankers who own the Federal Reserve System. The FRS has NEVER been audited. They do a partial audit every year. But a partial audit is nothing, except an attempt to fraud the People into thinking they have been audited....Sue 10/31/2014

Discuss Benjamin Franklins view on the 2 weaknesses that tempt people to office, and his opinion on salaries for public officials. (64-67)
Are we electing virtuous and moral leaders, are they over compensated. Do you believe our leaders think that it is an honor to serve, or are they serving solely to be in a position of power?...-Natalie Clyde. 10/31/2014
I think few see it as an honor. Especially when they are "lifelong" congressmen, I think if once virtuous, after time they love the power and prestige so much that they forget the reason they chose to run for office in the first place. George Washington should be our example of a man who really did not desire the "office" yet did his duty with love for his fellow man and love for God...then declined a reelection. Choosing to have term limits in Congress would I think help stop "some" of the corruption and over zealous desire for power and prestige. What do you think?.....-Renee 11/01/2014

We homeschooled our children for 15+ years. My son Jamon wasn't ready to learn to read until he was 10 years old. Even after that, we had a difficult time inspiring him to pick up a book and really study it. When he was about 12 or 13, he wanted a PSP so badly and his dad and I just didn't buy things like this for our kids...but in trying to find ways to inspire, we came up with a plan. If he would read the 5000 year leap from cover to cover, study the principles and then discuss them with mom during the day , AND write a report on what he learned from each principle to share with dad, showing his true knowledge...or sharing the things that confused him, and discuss it with dad later, then, if done well, to his best ability and taken seriously, we would buy him his PSP!! Oh what a stretch this was for us. Both financially and mentally.. Because we really didn't feel the PSP was a worthy thing to spend money on and we couldn't see how this "toy" would bless his life or ours! However, this excersize was powerful for Jamon and for us as parents. It was the first time he'd ever read a BIG book and he really took it seriously. He wrote a "15" page report for his dad and discussed it with me daily as he was drafting it. Today, my son is 20 years old and still says this book was one of the most powerful book he has ever read. He refers back to it often. After we saw what an impact thus book had on him, we bought him his own copy. He cherishes his copy! And what of the PSP...? Well, at first it was a great novelty and he never went anywhere without it. But, after a couple years it began to get left behind and slowly more important things took its place. He still remembers what a great lesson it was to work hard for something he wanted so much. But would he buy a PSP today? NO....lol....but he would buy a very large library of his favorite books!! Most of them classics and having to do with understanding correct principles! YES!! Buy this book for your sons and daughters. It will change their lives!.....Anonymous. 10/27.2014

Did you know: The 5000 Year Leap published in 1981, impacted President Ronald Reagan that he suggested every high school student be taught from it in the public high schools of America. If only it could, what a difference our world would be, and our youth.
Enjoy your readings as a family, or individually today...and continue to get the word out. We need to reach those we invited to read this book, to start with us too.
There is a movement happening of the youth. Ages 12-25 it seems. They are being called to know these principles , defend them and learn them to rebuild america with them someday. It's these youth/ young adults who will turn the tide and restore, as prophesied. They are awakening, and flocking together. God is getting his army ready! Your son will be a fabulous leader with his life experiences!.. .. Julie Smith. 10/27/2014

Here are a few things of what our KIMBER FAMILIES have to say about how KIMBER ACADEMY has influenced and changed their families life and the education of their student(s)....

Our children may know what the "alphabet"and the "numbers" are by themselves, but do they know how these numbers are important to Heavenly Father and how they are used in the scriptures? Do they know how to love to serve others through Language? This concept, as a parent, I have not taught my daughter nor even contemplated teaching her before being introduced to Kimber's Curriculum. I have realized that these basic sections are more than just learning letters and more than just learning numbers, Heavenly Father created everything. He numbers everything He creates because it is important to Him, and He wants us to serve those around us and what better way to learn this through Language. When our children can learn these fundamentals and their importance to God, I know that the children's learning and love for learning will grow tremendously from this. I have seen such joy in the children as they do their service project each week and serve a friend. They are loving math and get excited to learn a new number each day and create that number and its importance in the eyes of our Heavenly Father.
This is an amazing spiritual growing experience for your child and I can say, it is also a growing experience as a parent, and teacher......-A Kimber Parent/Teacher 11/03/2014

My experience with Kimber Academy has been very positive. Our family has had some type of interaction with this school for about 10 years, whether it was been through attending the school itself to using the curriculum in our homeschooling studies. Our youngest son is in his 4th year of attending Kimber Academy.
There are many things we love about this school. We love that the spirit is so strong every day in the school building. Because of his and because the spirit is brought into each subject, my son has learned how to recognize the spirit in his life.
The curriculum has been a great help in our children’s education. We have found that as we use these books, our son is learning not only about in depth study of these subjects (which are Book of Mormon, Language Arts, Math, Science, and History), he is also learning how to serve others, how to search and apply the scriptures in each of these subjects, how to ponder what he is learning, and how to self-govern.
We love how the curriculum includes so much information that has been removed from text books in our public schools. He is also learning how to use other resources like the library, books found in used book stores, and the internet to expand his knowledge on each of the subjects and also subjects that he is of interest to him.
The curriculum does a great job teaching children how to self-govern which is a great skill all children should learn as they become adults.......- An anonymous Kimber Parent. 11/3/2014

This is our first year attending Kimber Academy. I, as a parent, am so thankful that there are more options for education, in teaching our children the things that matter most. I wanted to home school my kids but felt like I needed a little help as well. I love how involved I can be with the school and in teaching the curriculum at home too. I see Kimber as more of a partnership between them and me both teaching my child the things I want him to learn. It is so fun to see our little boy learning so much and enjoying school! We feel like our family has become closer and stronger as we have had many opportunities to feel the spirit as we discuss topics that had been learned that day at school. There are many learning opportunities for the parents too, and I love that! There is so much to learn and I love seeing my son thrive in such a peaceful environment......- An anonymous Parent. 10/272014

Last year we choose to join the Home school life. We were nervous at first but we chose to use the Kimber Academy curriculum and it was amazing. With the sucsess we had last year with the curriculme we decided to enroll in the Academy this year and even though it has only been a couple of months we have already seen a huge change in our daughter. Her willingness to get up and get ready is all her own drive. She comes home with so much to talk about and to share with anyone willing to listen. She is always begging to have me sit down and work more with her out of her books. So grateful that we are able to go as FAST or as SLOW in the curriculum as we want/need. The influence THE SPIRIT has had on our family is hard to put into words. ALL POSSATIVE of course and amazing changes. We look forward to what the future holds as we continue on this path that The Lord and put before us.........-A Kimber Mom.10/27/2014

A 17 year old's testimony about Kimber Academy:
The things I have learned at Kimber Academy will always influence me. I love learning about America and our Founding Fathers. I love learning how our founders were self-educators, and how at Kimber Academy we can be too, with the structure of more time at home to follow our desires. I love learning how the founders were dedicated to principles of freedom and all of them pledged their lives in defending them. Last week I learned at what cost these men went through and what they gave up. Many of them lost their homes, money and children, all by choice, so I could have these freedoms. I love how they were directed by God and duty, not by man.
Our freedoms are being taken away again. At Kimber Academy, we are being taught 28 principles of freedom the founders knew and defended. These principles are simple and easy to understand. We can stop what is happening in America by learning these, and then going and doing, and teaching others these. We need to be like Captain Moroni- where the very powers of hell would shake, by being like him and raising our title of liberty.Kimber Academy, is so great because it is a movement in learning to think and be like the founders. 17 yr old student. 10/27/2014

Here are some pics of our first couple weeks of school. Not only do they learn, but they learn though the Spirit and many hands on activities. Thank you to all the staff for all you do.

Today we had a lot of fun with our Art Teacher; Lenore Lillywhite. She came and spoke today about some fun ways to make our text book covers unique or special.

What I love most about KA, is the fact the seniors will always reach down and help a younger child. As you can see in the picture, they all have new buddies this week.· Photo: Today at Kimber Academy we had "Raising the Standards." We pledged we would live a higher dress code, study harder, be mentally, physically and spiritually fit, and to look for others to serve. Each balloon had a hand written note they were going to raise their standards higher on.

            Why your teens need us!

Because the world and society is becoming more and more anti-god, we must become a stronger God-centered people to protect our liberties, our safety and our future.

The Glenn J. Kimber Academy is an academy that focuses on training students in academic and leadership skills. Our mission and purpose is to teach the core principles of leadership and real-life skills of learning and education. We believe that in order to HEAL our nation we must first develop the necessary skills of leadership and learning. Youth today are more capable and have a higher potential than ever before. Our goal is to motivate and inspire them to action through an understanding of “how” to learn and lead rather than simply “what” to learn.

The Kimber Academy is a completely private organization that sets the highest standards of education and learning. The methods and philosophies of the academy are deeply rooted in common sense principles that rely on building a strong foundation rather than a checklist of shallow achievements. As a private, for-profit business we do not receive any state or federal funding; as with all government monies the strings attached with such funding are too restrictive and controlling. We prefer to prove the success of our methods independent of government mandates and constraints.

Most of the educational methods and practices of the academy are very nontraditional; this is completely deliberate. Every single aspect of the program has a purpose and meaning that can be linked back to a core principle. There is an epidemic in this nation and its root causes can be traced to godlessness and too much emphasis on shallow achievements.

The academy’s foundational values are centered around the relationship and service to God, Family and Country. We believe that religion, faith and God should never be left out of any learning experience – it brings purpose, commitment and a “higher” level of thinking. Our fight to end godlessness in society starts with how we are trained from our youth.

Many people have been pleading with society to reform education but to no avail. Other programs have tried but end up being controlled and mandated by government regulation. With Kimber Academy’s proven principles and methods, today’s youth have a firmer foundation from which to build a more successful future.

By enrolling your teen in our leadership academy- they will start learning correct principles, and how to self- govern with it. They will understand freedom vs liberty and how to take a stand in a society that are nothing more than sheep being led to the slaughter.

                 FREE EDUCATION.....

As a nation, we have been dumbed down as the fundamentals of freedom have been removed from our schools, generation by generation. These precepts were once commonly understood. Now, we are in confusion and in crisis, because we have allowed these principles to be subverted by flowery speeches and specious arguments by evil intending, power-hungry men. If we are going to re-enthrone freedom and obtain a measure of safety as a society; we must understand and live by correct principles. We must diligently study the foundations of freedom and implement them for our own happiness, safety, and peace. We must look to our leaders and go back to the basics, that is where the answers lie. Listen to what Brigham Young said on free education. I am opposed to free education as much as I am opposed to taking property from one man and giving it to another….Would I encourage free schools by taxation? No! [1] We had to pay our own schoolteachers, raise our own bread and earn our own clothing, or go without; there was no other choice. We did it then, and we are able to do the same to-day. I want to enlist the sympathies of the ladies among the Latter-day Saints, to see what we can do for ourselves with regard to schooling our children. Do not say you cannot school them, for you can. There is not a family in this community but what we will take and school their children if they are not able to do it themselves; and we do not do it through begging in the East and telling what others have told there about this people, and about their own efforts to establish free schools here. I understand that the other night there was a school meeting in one of the wards of this city, and a part there–a poor miserable apostate–said, “We want a free school, and we want to have the name of establishing the first free school in Utah.” To call a person a poor miserable apostate may seem like a harsh word; but what shall we call a man who talks about free schools and who would have all the people taxed to support them, and yet would take his rifle and threaten to shoot the man who had the collection of the ordinary light taxes levied in this Territory–taxes which are lighter than any levied in any other portion of the country? We have no other schools but free schools here–our schools are all free. Our meetings are free, our teachings are free. We labor for ourselves and the kingdom of God. [2]

WHAT? RELIGION AT SCHOOL?

Most Americans today have forgotten the fact that our American Founders passed an ordinance in 1787 which required new states to teach religion in their schools before they could be admitted to the Union. BUT, WHICH RELIGION SHOULD BE TAUGHT? Why, the "Religion of America" of course! And here is what the Founders said that was: 1. That there exists a Creator who made all things, and mankind should recognize and worship Him. 2. That the Creator has revealed a moral code of behavior for happy living which distinguishes right from wrong. 3. That the Creator holds mankind responsible for the way they treat each other. 4. That all mankind live beyond this life. 5. That in the next life mankind are judged for their conduct in this one. The Founders felt that these fundamentals were so important in providing "good government and the happiness of mankind" that they wanted them taught in the public schools along with morality and knowledge. (See the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, Section 3) Obviously, today's public schools have abandoned these tenets of religion, and even forbids them to be taught. This is why Kimber Academy was established over 20 years ago. The "Religion of America" must be restored to education if this nation is to survive! The list of five fundamentals is something we can all agree on. Let's get the Religion of America back by joining together instead of quibbling about differences of doctrine. As one pastor said, "When we get to heaven, we will ALL be taking Religion 101." Let us unite as believers in God and put Him back into education. Kimber Academy is one way you can do that for your children. Why not give it a try? Remember, we are multi-denominational. We teach those five tenets of religion, along with morality and knowledge. What God-fearing person can disagree with that?

                                         WE ARE SO PROUD

Today was a Board of Reviews for those who are graduating from the Lehi Kimber Academy. To graduate one must know 4000 facts, and write it in story form from the beginning of time, to present. It is divided into 40 significant dates- called Hook dates. 100 facts for each date, written from memory.

Students must also pass a NTC GED diagnostic testing; which prepares them for College entrance. At the Lehi school, the students also have to be able to defend the 28 principles of the Constitution.

Here we have two students posing as future missionaries and defenders of the Constitution!

Great Job guys!!

"Keep Church at church, and religion and moral teachings at home," say many critics of Kimber Academy. "Like oil and water, religion doesn't mix with secular learning," they say. Well, let's take a good look at that. In the days of the McGuffey Readers (1800s), religion and morality were a part of all studies, especially reading and writing. At Kimber, we have expanded religion and morality into ALL core subjects -- even math! So HOW in the world could MATH apply to religion and morality? Easy! KA students learn that the Creator used mathematical formulas to create everything on the earth, even in the universe. So, when students learn how mathematics work, and practice creating and solving their own math problems, they are following in the footsteps of their Creator. What other reason could there be for learning math? (Hasn't your student complained, "Why do I have to know this?" Now you know what to tell them.) What about LANGUAGE ARTS? When students learn parts of speech, they can learn about nouns and verbs with a sentence like this: "See Spot run fast." Or, they can learn about nouns and verbs in a sentence that has the same number of words, but has much more meaning: "Blessed are the meek." A student will tend to ponder the meaning of this sentence as well as analyze its structure. Language arts mechanics thus have substance. The KA focus in language arts is also service. When the principles of language arts are used in academic service, they are never forgotten because they are practiced for the good of others. What about SCIENCE? That's a no-brainer. Exit: Darwin's godless theories. Enter: God, the Creator of all things. Students learn in physiology that their bodies are the "temple of God" and have a spirit that needs constant nourishment just like their bodies do. In Zoology, students learn that animals have a place in God's great design for the happiness of man. In Botany, students learn that even plants were ordained for the use of man. In chemistry, students learn that all things have "intelligence" and "agency." In geology and astronomy, students learn of God's great creations -- all made for the benefit of mankind. Science without God is meaningless. What about HISTORY? History is defined as the story of God's relationship to mankind, and man's relationship to each other. The hook-dates organize history into a meaningful story-board where students can put into perspective the times when God intervened in behalf of His children, and that He does so still. Without an understanding of God's dealings with His children, history becomes a mish-mash of ambiguous dates, people, and places that have no bearing on today or the future. God's prophecies of the future are revealed in past events as recorded in scripture. Students learn through history that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God-centered History is an anchor to the soul for the future. So there you have it. Oil and water mixed together to make a new compound of rich learning. Since God is the center of the universe, shouldn't He be the center of our lives? If you want your children to have a God-centered education, join a Kimber Academy in your area -- or check out our live streaming classes. www.kimberacademy.net P.S. Chemically, oil and water can combine when soap or detergent is added to the mixture. So, to use that analogy, we can say that Kimber curriculum washes out atheism so religion and academics can mix together to make the new beautiful compound of true learning. :o)
