Veterans Day  and the meaning of FOLDING OUR COUNTY'S FLAG

For celebration of Veterans Day, we had a special veteran visitor speak to us on the flag, and the symbols. Afterwards a cute 9 year old stood up who said he was moved, and suggested that we should sing the Star Spangle Banner as a school. He had everyone place their hand over their heart, and look at the flag.

Thank you to all those who served this country and continue to preserve our freedom!

Symbols for the Folds of the Flag

*The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life.

*The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life.

*The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks, and who gave a portion of his or her life for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world.

*The fourth fold represents our weaker nature; as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace, as well as in times of war, for His divine guidance.

*The fifth fold is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right, but it is still our country, right or wrong.”

*The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

*The seventh fold is a tribute to our armed forces, for it is through the armed forces that we protect our country and our flag against all enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic.

*The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor our mother, for whom it flies on Mother’s Day.

*The ninth fold is a tribute to womanhood, for it has been through their faith, love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great have been molded.

*The 10th fold is a tribute to father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since he or she was first born.

*The 11th fold, in the eyes of Hebrew citizens, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

*The 12th fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost.

When the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, “In God We Trust.”

After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it has the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under Gen. George Washington.

IN WHOSE HANDS DOES THE POWER OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT LAY?
"Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. THE PEOPLE themselves, therefore, are its only safe depositories. And to render them safe, their minds must be improved to a certain degree." "I consider THE PEOPLE who constitute a society or nation as the source of ALL AUTHORITY in that nation." Thomas A. Jefferson

How did the Founding Fathers put the government in the hands of the people so the people could govern themselves?
Here are twelve things the Founding Fathers did to put the government into the hands of the people:
1. Drew up a written Constitution, telling government officials what they could and could not do.
2. Required the elected officials to take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution
3. Divided the main power into three heads, so all the authority would not be in one person or one committee.
4. They made Congress the law making body because it consist of several members elected by the people.
5. Required a journal to be kept of all proceedings and made it open to public view.
6. Established two governments, The Federal Government to govern the nation as a whole and the State Government to govern the States and be closer to the people’s watchful eye.
7. Gave the people the right to vote
8. Gave the people the right to peacefully assemble.
9. Gave the people the right to voice their grievances.
10. Set up a court system consisting of the Supreme Court, the Federal Courts and the State Courts to protect the people’s rights.
11. Provided an impeachment process.
12. Considered all laws passed fraudulently to be null and void......Julie Smith 10/31/2014
The power and rule of the United States at this time is in the hands of international bankers who own the Federal Reserve System. The FRS has NEVER been audited. They do a partial audit every year. But a partial audit is nothing, except an attempt to fraud the People into thinking they have been audited....Sue 10/31/2014

Discuss Benjamin Franklins view on the 2 weaknesses that tempt people to office, and his opinion on salaries for public officials. (64-67)
Are we electing virtuous and moral leaders, are they over compensated. Do you believe our leaders think that it is an honor to serve, or are they serving solely to be in a position of power?...-Natalie Clyde. 10/31/2014
I think few see it as an honor. Especially when they are "lifelong" congressmen, I think if once virtuous, after time they love the power and prestige so much that they forget the reason they chose to run for office in the first place. George Washington should be our example of a man who really did not desire the "office" yet did his duty with love for his fellow man and love for God...then declined a reelection. Choosing to have term limits in Congress would I think help stop "some" of the corruption and over zealous desire for power and prestige. What do you think?.....-Renee 11/01/2014

We homeschooled our children for 15+ years. My son Jamon wasn't ready to learn to read until he was 10 years old. Even after that, we had a difficult time inspiring him to pick up a book and really study it. When he was about 12 or 13, he wanted a PSP so badly and his dad and I just didn't buy things like this for our kids...but in trying to find ways to inspire, we came up with a plan. If he would read the 5000 year leap from cover to cover, study the principles and then discuss them with mom during the day , AND write a report on what he learned from each principle to share with dad, showing his true knowledge...or sharing the things that confused him, and discuss it with dad later, then, if done well, to his best ability and taken seriously, we would buy him his PSP!! Oh what a stretch this was for us. Both financially and mentally.. Because we really didn't feel the PSP was a worthy thing to spend money on and we couldn't see how this "toy" would bless his life or ours! However, this excersize was powerful for Jamon and for us as parents. It was the first time he'd ever read a BIG book and he really took it seriously. He wrote a "15" page report for his dad and discussed it with me daily as he was drafting it. Today, my son is 20 years old and still says this book was one of the most powerful book he has ever read. He refers back to it often. After we saw what an impact thus book had on him, we bought him his own copy. He cherishes his copy! And what of the PSP...? Well, at first it was a great novelty and he never went anywhere without it. But, after a couple years it began to get left behind and slowly more important things took its place. He still remembers what a great lesson it was to work hard for something he wanted so much. But would he buy a PSP today? NO....lol....but he would buy a very large library of his favorite books!! Most of them classics and having to do with understanding correct principles! YES!! Buy this book for your sons and daughters. It will change their lives!.....Anonymous. 10/27.2014

Did you know: The 5000 Year Leap published in 1981, impacted President Ronald Reagan that he suggested every high school student be taught from it in the public high schools of America. If only it could, what a difference our world would be, and our youth.
Enjoy your readings as a family, or individually today...and continue to get the word out. We need to reach those we invited to read this book, to start with us too.
There is a movement happening of the youth. Ages 12-25 it seems. They are being called to know these principles , defend them and learn them to rebuild america with them someday. It's these youth/ young adults who will turn the tide and restore, as prophesied. They are awakening, and flocking together. God is getting his army ready! Your son will be a fabulous leader with his life experiences!.. .. Julie Smith. 10/27/2014
